Blockchain Council of the Philippines President and #CryptoPH veteran Luis Buenaventura has announced his new role as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at Talino Fintech Foundry.

What is Talino Fintech Foundry?

On its website, Talino Fintech Foundry (https://talinofoundry.com/) introduces itself as an infrastructure platform for financial technology focused on driving financial inclusion for emerging markets and diaspora communities.

Founded by Winston Damarillo (originally as Talino Venture Studios), the U.S.-based fintech company utilizes a venture studio model to build scalable and profitable platforms that empower underserved groups, according to public information. Buenaventura said the firm currently focuses on a remittance pipeline using traditional payment rails and collaborating with licensed incumbents through its product, BayaniGlobalPay.

Buenaventura’s New Role as CSO

As the fintech firm’s new Chief Strategy Officer, the well-known Filipino crypto personality will focus on rethinking the payments pipeline between the U.S. and the Philippines. His strategy will heavily leverage stablecoins, blockchain technology, and AI, alongside Talino’s existing licenses and partner network.

Buenaventura cited a book he wrote in 2017, which collected stories and learnings from startups worldwide attempting to solve the remittance problem with crypto. He emphasized that the “old assumptions” detailed in that book must now be revisited as he plans to execute these updated strategies at Talino.

“It’s now 2026, and the GENIUS act in the US has permanently changed the way the industry thinks about stablecoins. We have strong liquidity and compressible margins on both ends of the remittance corridor, we have regulatory frameworks that we can follow, we have traditional institutions genuinely interested in what we’re offering, and we have AI accelerating everything.”

Through the Years: Buenaventura’s Web3 Journey

Buenaventura noted that his new role at Talino represents a culmination of his 18 years of experience in the tech industry. It also serves as a reunion; he first met Damarillo in 2008, with the Talino founder serving as his mentor while he built early social media and e-commerce web apps.

His broader journey through the Philippine crypto space includes several major milestones:

  • 2018 (BloomSolutions): Buenaventura founded BloomSolutions. He noted that their first product, a BTC-powered remittance pipeline connecting OFWs in Korea and Hong Kong to the Philippines, was “way too early.” They struggled with low local crypto trading volume, high volatility, and a lack of regulatory frameworks.
  • Late 2021 (YGG Pilipinas): After stepping back from the rebranded BloomX, he joined Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas as its Country Manager.
  • August 2023 (GCash): He left YGG Pilipinas due to evolving organizational needs and was shortly announced as the Head of GCrypto, the crypto trading product of the e-wallet giant GCash.
  • February 2026 (Blockchain Council & Talino): After more than two years, Buenaventura departed GCash after increasing its user volumbe by 10 times. Prior to this move, he was named President of the Blockchain Council of the Philippines.

He is also a well-known digital artist under the moniker “Cryptopop” with his own art guild. He also has a widely read newsletter on the local crypto economy.

Buenaventura and this publication, BitPinas, are the organizers of #CryptoPH Conversations, a seasonal in-real-life event aimed at educating the community.
